Ghost Player Rule


During the closed season it was decided that it was necessary to limit a club's ability
to use non-regular players in order to falsely strengthen teams for particular matches.

From the season mid-point therefore players who have not played at least 2 match(es) will no longer count towards the rule
governing player eligibility which is shown below.

11.2    Teams within a Club are also ranked in the LMS in descending order of Team Numbers. The first string in the second team shall never be ranked above No.6. the first string in the third team shall never be ranked above No.11, and so on for each Club team. If, at any time after the League fixture List has been "frozen", a Club finds it has to withdraw one of its teams, the League Organiser must be notified. Withdrawal of a team will not affect the ranking of the teams below and any players remaining within the five ranking places associated with the withdrawn team will not be eligible to play for a lower team, except at the discretion of the League Organiser.

The 'Effective Ranking' above therefore is now in place for the purposes of this rule.

As with all LMS rules currently, the application of the rule is at the discretion of the League Organiser.

When completing match cards, please use the 'Stated Ranking' for the Player,
not the 'Effective Ranking.
